Meet Our Rabbis
Rabbi Steven Miodownik
Rabbi
Rabbi Steven Miodownik, a musmach of the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary, became the Rabbi of Ahavas Achim in 2006, after serving as Assistant Rabbi for five years and Interim Rabbi for one year. He grew up in West Hempstead, NY, and received his BS from the Sy Syms School of Business and Masters in Secondary Education from Azrieli Graduate School. Rabbi Miodownik is also a faculty member at Bruriah High School. He and his wife Gila, a rehab technology specialist, have four children, Arielle (married to Yair), Kayla, Sam, and Rosa, and one grandson. Rabbi Noah Whittenburg
Assistant Rabbi
Rabbi Noah Whittenburg received Semicha from RIETS at Yeshiva University. He learned in the New York Beis Medrish, the Gruss Kollel in Yerushalayim and the YU Torah MiTzion Kollel in Chicago. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University and a Master’s from the Azrieli School of Jewish Education. Rabbi Whittenburg is also a Rebbe in the TSBP/Halacha Department at Bruriah High School. Before moving to New Jersey, he was the Assistant Rabbi at Beth Jacob Congregation in San Diego, CA, and a Rebbe at SCY High School. Rabbi Whittenburg and his wife Yaffa, a teacher at RPRY, are proud parents of four children, Nessya, Leebi, Gavriella and Aharon. Rabbi Ronald L. Schwarzberg
Rabbi Emeritus
Rabbi Schwarzberg came to Highland Park in July,1986 from the Hebrew Institute of Riverdale where he served as Associate Rabbi. He brought with him a passionate commitment to the principles of 'Ahavat Yisrael', political activism, and bridge building. Shortly after his arrival, Rabbi Schwarzberg was instrumental in relocating Congregation Ahavas Achim from New Brunswick to Highland Park. Rabbi Schwarzberg has served as co-chair of the Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation of Greater Middlesex County and he was elected in December 2002 as associate chair of the National Rabbinic Cabinet of the United Jewish Communities. Under his leadership the shul developed Ahavas Achim University, an innovative and far reaching educational endeavor that has enlisted top tier scholars and religious leaders to teach at the synagogue and has attracted attendees from across the state. Rabbi Schwarzberg is married to "Morah Judy," a preschool teacher at the Rabbi Pesach Raymon Yeshiva. Together they have four children, Ari, Elana, Aviva, and Shayna.
